What is Goryeo Ginseng?
Goryeo ginseng, a type of medicinal herb, grows only in the Far East region in Asia, such as Korea(33.7º~43.1º), China(Manchuria, 43º~47º) and Russia(Maritime Province, 40º~48º), all of which are located in north latitude between 30º and 48º. Ginseng is extremely hard to grow in areas that are not optimal for its growth. Korea is one of those few optimal places in the world to grow ginseng and it is particularly called “Goryeo Ginseng” that are widely recognized by the customers around the world.
Goryeo Ginseng is mainly composed of carbohydrates such as starch, polysaccharide and cellulose, reaching almost up to 60 to 70% of the total content. It also includes saponin, unique to ginseng, and various nitrogenous chemical compounds such as protein, peptide and alkaloid, phenolic and polyacetylene compounds, oil component, fat soluble substances such as phytosterol and a variety of vitamins. Some 20 different types of polyacetylene substances were found in ginseng and three key ingredients are panaxydol, panaxynol and panaxytriol.
